Fall, 2009 Garden Planting
Yoga St Louis has partnered with the Lindenwood Neighborhood Association to begin landscaping our side lot at Fyler this Fall as part of a neighborhood improvement project. Board Member Janet Desnoyer has graciously helped by enlisting neighborhood support for the project. Landscape contractor Scott Drake helped us at an onsite meeting with budget and scope advice while holding his "yoga baby" in his arms. Students Rose Ahrens and Lucy Tyksinsky also provided useful suggestions, which yielded a Zen theme. But the biggest surprise of all was student Ginny Flynn, who responded, "Oh, I have a degree in landscape design!" Ginny stayed after class to help with layout, details and plant choices. We've committed to putting in a big chunk of change for the project and hope that you'll be able to help us with planting. After that, next project: landscape the front!

Yoga St Louis in the News
The Southwest City Journal featured Yoga St Louis in their 11-6-07 You gotta try this column. Titled "Finding my balance through Yoga," photojournalist Erica Burrus enthusiastically documented a private class with Bruce, as well as a discussion afterwards with Kathy and Tiki. She liked it so much that she signed up for Kathy's class. Thanks, Erica, and thanks to the Suburban Journal. Text, along with additional photos are available online at: Southwest City Journal

Rudrakshya Dance Concert
Several students and teachers attended the sold-out Rudrakshya Dance Concert held at the Gandhi Center in June. Long-time Yoga St Louis teacher Tiki Misra and her husband hosted the fourteen member troupe during their St Louis premiere.

The concert was electrifying! A quintet of Indian classical musicians led eight vibrantly garbed dancers in a skilled performance of ancient Indian tales. Several days later Yoga St Louis hosted several of the male dancers and musicians at the studio for yoga class. It was a wonderful exchange based on our shared love of Indian art and philosophy. Subsequently we also taught the other musicians and some of the female dancers. As a result, we were invited to teach them in their home state of Orissa, in India, and look forward to working with them in the future.
